After a miserable Ashes series, England fans have had little to smile about in recent months and they could not quite record a much-needed victory after losing a second successive ODI.
England posted a strong score of 300 after a century from Eoin Morgan, only their second during their entire tour of Australia. But Australia secured victory in the final over of the match with just three balls remaining.
Australian all-rounder James Faulkner was the new national hero with 69 off 47 balls, guiding the home side to victory.
Hoggy was disappointed that England could not record a victory but was glad to see a much-improved overall performance.
England are currently 2-0 down in the series and desperately need a win to restore some national pride. The next ODI will be on Sunday 19th January in Sydney.
