After a gruelling match that saw a day of play postponed due to rain and the possibility of a draw with rival side Kent, the away team finally won out over the Leicestershire side. Play ended with Kent having a 179 run lead on the home side at Grace Road after Darren Stevens took a season's best 5-35.

This week has seen Matthew Hoggard's side, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, tackle more great matches as the season continues. Despite play being blighted by unseasonable weather, Matthew was pleased with his team’s performance as they took to the field.

Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s Matthew Hoggard has had an exciting time recently on the cricket field. Sunday 19th August saw an enthusiastic crowd entertained with a day’s cricket at Grace Road in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation and The Lord Taveners. The Matt Hampson XI took on the Lord Taveners XI, drawing at 25-over at the end.

Matthew had a fantastic time taking part in the Farmfoods British Par 3 championship last week. The championship was a huge success with a fantastic line-up of pro Golfers and celebrities all taking part and the cricket star was thrilled to take part in such a great event.

Leicestershire have endured a tough start to their match versus Essex at Chelmsford, with Essex posting 434 for 3 before reducing the visitors to 32 for 2.

It's another tough day in the LV=CC for Matthew Hoggard's Leicestershire, who currently sit 8th in the table.
